TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The News 4 Tucson Investigators have been examining crime issues in Tucson, revealing challenges faced by the Tucson Police Department in responding to calls promptly due to staffing shortages. In an exclusive interview, Police Chief Chad Kasmar discussed the department's staffing situation with News 4 Tucson's Chief Investigative Reporter Chorus Nylander.

"Today we sit at 1989 staffing numbers for a City that has a population of about 150,000 more people in it. Crime is more complex," said Kasmar. He has been leading the department since the end of 2021 and aims to ensure a well-prepared leadership team for the future.
