BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - Mission Hospital said that a baby boy finally went home with his parents after a long-term stay in the NICU on Tuesday.

Gadiel Gonzalez-Perez was in the Mission Hospital NICU for 98 days before he was discharged without oxygen, wires or machines, hospital officials said.

“The entire Mission Hospital NICU team, along with mom Elide and dad Ramon, couldn’t be more proud of him!” the hospital shared.

Gadiel was born on May 27 at only 25.5 weeks, weighing only 560 grams or a little more than 1.2 pounds, the hospital shared. On Tuesday, he weighed five pounds, six ounces.
