WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is warning the community of a new scam targeting families of those who have recently been arrested.
Deputies say scammers are monitoring law enforcement websites for recent arrests.
Scammers then contact family members of the arrestee, pretend to be a bondsman and demand money over the phone.
