COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A Midlands school was placed on secure status for just over an hour on Friday.

A spokesperson with Richland School District Two confirmed to WIS that Dent Middle School was placed in secure status at around 1:20 p.m.

The school was deemed to no longer be in secure status just before 2:30 p.m.

The spokesperson noted that operations continued as normal and that everyone at the school is safe. The district notes on its website that secure status is different than a lockdown.
