CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A crash on Interstate 85 in north Charlotte has closed three lanes for much of the afternoon Friday.

According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, the a collision involving two tractor trailers occurred around 12:45 p.m. on I-85 South near North Graham Street (Exit 40). Three of the four southbound lanes are closed, and are expected to reopen by 3:50 p.m.

As of 3 p.m., traffic is backed up to W.T. Harris Boulevard (Exit 45). Local authorities say that 70 gallons of diesel fuel spilled, and the fire department has been collecting it in inflatable pools and barrels.

Medic responded to the scene, but did not transport any patients.
