A sharp cold front will dive into our warm, humid airmass and set off a line of storms in western New England by early afternoon.

This line will march east, arriving in Greater Worcester by 4 to 5 p.m. and Greater Boston by 6 to 8 p.m. The South Shore, Cape and Islands will be spared.

If these storms turn severe -- and not all will -- there could be damaging winds, hail, and a very small risk of a tornado (10% or less). This could be our biggest severe outbreak of the summer in central and western Massachusetts (which isn’t saying much, since it’s been a low-key summer storm-wise).
