At 2:39 p.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 3:30 p.m. for the Bronx, Manhattan and Queens as well as Westchester County.
Prepare for quarter-sized hail (1 inch) and wind gusts of up to 60 mph.
"At 2:38 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Harrison, moving northeast at 35 mph," describes the weather service. "Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines."
Anticipate the thunderstorm to possibly affect following locations:
Lyndhurst and East Village around 2:45 p.m.
Ridgefield and Midtown Manhattan around 2:50 p.m.
Mott Haven and RFK Bridge around 2:55 p.m.
East Tremont and Laguardia Airport around 3 p.m.
Riverdale and Co-op City around 3:05 p.m.
