WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early in the morning on September 7th, in the 7700 block of South Broadway near Haysville.

At 2:58 a.m., Sedgwick County Emergency Communications received an automated crash detection alert from a mobile device in the area. Haysville police officers, Sedgwick County EMS and Fire District 1, responded and found an SUV that had crashed into a tree.

Inside the SUV they found a 43-year-old Haysville man with gunshot wounds. Sedgwick County EMS took him to a local hospital, where he later died. A female passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash.
