WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The family of a woman killed in a Saline County crash is speaking out.

12 News reporter Gabriela Hernandez spoke with David Mayer and Andrea Swart, the son and daughter-in-law of Deanna “June” Sommerfeld, who was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Aug. 8.

Sommerfeld, 55, and her husband, Mark, were driving on K-140 when they were struck head on by a vehicle driven by Kayla Errebo. The 32-year-old Errebo was suspected of but not charged with driving under the influence.

Errebo, who had been arrested for DUI in January 2024, faces charges of second-degree murder, aggravated battery, violation of duty as a driver, reckless driving, circumvention of an ignition interlock device and improper driving on a landed roadway.
