WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Wichita is stepping up its fight against illegal dumping. On Tuesday, the City Council will vote on a plan that would raise fines and add new cameras in problem areas.

The issue has cost the city more than $1 million in cleanup over the past eight years. In the same time, Wichita recovered just $4,000, primarily because it’s hard to prove who’s responsible.

The proposal calls for doubling fines, expanding surveillance, and using Flock cameras that can track license plates, making it easier to hold offenders accountable.
