ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Catherine Hanaway will be sworn in as Missouri Attorney General on Monday morning.

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe selected Hanaway to take over the Attorney General’s office after Andrew Bailey announced he would be stepping down following an appointment as co-deputy director of the FBI.

Hanaway is the first female Attorney General for the state of Missouri, and the first female appointed to a major statewide office under Kehoe.

Hanaway was elected the first female Speaker of the Missouri House in 2003. She then served as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri from 2005 to 2009.

In 2004, she ran for Missouri Secretary of State, but was defeated by 14% points.
