The annual La Jolla Cove Swim has been a tradition since 1916. Decades later, it is recognized as the one of the oldest open water swims in the United States and celebrated its 109th year in 2025.

"We have all these beautiful beaches and bays here in San Diego, and it's great to be able to give back to the community in this way," said Aaron Brennan, the race director. The annual tradition offers swimmers a one mile and three mile open water race. There is also an option known as the “Whole Enchilada” Swimmers compete in both the 1 mile & 3 mile events with a break in between.
