LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Fayette County School Board member is disputing the amount of money in the district’s contingency fund.
The Fayette County School Board released its working budget Sunday afternoon. The 24-page document breaks down revenues and expenses line by line.
Two years ago, the beginning balance of the general fund was $82.5 million. Last year, it was roughly $43.3 million. This year, the carry-forward amount is listed as $26.3 million.
However, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader , school board member Amanda Ferguson plans to address concerns that the contingency is even lower than the estimate. Ferguson says the contingency fund is actually $15.6 million. That discrepancy appears to come from overspending in the special revenue and food services fund.
