KANE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Kane County Sheriff's Office deputies and Search and Rescue responded after a flash flood swept a hiker downstream 300 feet and stranded drivers on the road on Saturday.

According to a news release from Kane County Sheriff's Office, the hiker was navigating the canyon in Hurricane wash near Hole in the Rock Road with a companion when a sudden thunderstorm hit the area. It caused a flash flood, and the flood waters swept the hiker 300 feet downstream.

The flash flood also affected tributaries leading into Coyote Gulch, and the flood waters caused "significant" road damage, including washing out several crossings and a large culvert. It stranded seven vehicles in the area.
