COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Cuyahoga Community College will eliminate 30 associate degree programs during the current academic year, the latest Ohio college to announce cuts under a new state law.
The programs average fewer than five graduates per year over any three-year period and include 15 apprenticeship programs. Ohio Senate Bill 1 , which the legislature passed earlier this year, requires public colleges and universities to eliminate undergraduate degrees that don’t meet this threshold.
Tri-C’s announcement follows similar moves by Ohio University, which plans to eliminate or merge 29 programs, and the University of Toledo , which is cutting nine undergraduate programs.
