CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The Charleston County School District says students are attending school at a higher rate this semester compared to recent years, but leaders say there is still work to do.
In the 2025-2026 fall semester so far, overall student attendance is 94.1%. It's a slight rise from the previous two years. The district, however, says certain grades still need some work.
"We've seen a pattern with Pre-K 3 and elementary grades being more attentive than middle and high school," CCSD Superintendent Anita Huggins said. "That's where Dr. Coakley and our teams are really targeting our focus, close attention to middle and high school."
