KILLEEN, Texas — Killeen ISD is moving forward with its district optimization planning process and is actively seeking input from the community. The initiative aims to assess how the district uses its facilities, staff and academic programs.

It could potentially lead to the consolidation or closure of some campuses.

"So the why behind the optimization is to make sure that the district is using our resources as wisely as possible," Killeen ISD Executive Director of Communication Karen Rudolph said. "So, the optimization provides us with a framework to look toward, and the reason behind it is that we have experienced declining enrollment, not just in Killeen ISD, but across the country."
