DRAFFENVILLE — As Murray State celebrated its annual Family Weekend festivities on the Murray campus, a few Racer Athletics entities took the Family Weekend idea on the road Saturday morning.

That was when the Racers’ 2025 College World Series baseball program, cheerleaders and, of course, mascot Dunker bestowed their presence on a special event about 25 minutes to the north in Marshall County, an event that also defines the word “family.” It was Opening Day of the Miracle League of Western Kentucky’s 2025 baseball season at Mike Miller County Park in Draffenville.

And the Racers could not have felt more at home. Speaking of home, it was a homecoming for Racer pitcher Reese Oakley, a former standout with the Marshall County Marshals, who had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial pitc
