Motorists have been told to "avoid the area" following a crash on the M80 northbound in North Lanarkshire .
Emergency services were called to the scene just before 9.30am on Tuesday, September 9, following the incident near Junction 3, Moodiesburn. It is currently unknown how many vehicles were involved or if there are any injuries.
According to Traffic Scotland , the motorway was briefly closed in both directions due to separate incidents both northbound and southbound. However, the southbound carriageway has since fully reopened.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The M80 is closed Northbound at junction 3 near Moodiesburn due to a crash which was reported to us around 9.25am on Tuesday, 9 September, 2025.
"Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible."
