BELINGTON, W.Va. (WBOY) - Parents and families of students at Belington Elementary School in Barbour County, West Virginia, were alerted Tuesday morning that school was canceled, leaving many wondering why.
The alert, which was put out around 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, provided no reason for school being canceled.
Belington Elementary School will be closed today for students. Staff will report to the school on normal schedule. Thank you and have a great day!
Officials from the Barbour County Board of Education told 12 News that the closure was due to there not being enough substitute teachers to cover staff. Officials said that they did not know there would be so many staff absences until Tuesday morning. No other details were provided.
