MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — A person is in the hospital after being shot by a business owner in Mesa early Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to a business near Baseline and Recker roads just after midnight for the reported shooting. Police were told that a fight started after an unknown man was found on the property.

When the owner of the business confronted the man, he was attacked and beaten, Mesa Police said. That fight led to the business owner reportedly shooting the suspect.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s unclear which business this shooting took place at.

An investigation is ongoing to find what led to this shooting.
