GERMANTOWN, Tenn. - "Final emergency repair work" to the Germantown Greenway started Monday, leading to the temporarily closure of the trial east of Memphis, city officials said.

The closure impacts a section of the trail east of the Riverdale Trailhead, according to Germantown Parks & Recreation. The repair work started with milling Monday and will be followed by paving Tuesday, Sept. 9, officials said.

City officials said the trail will reopen "following completion of paving and sufficient drying time."

"We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation as this necessary work is completed," Germantown Parks & Recreation said in a statement.
