BROADALBIN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Hightower Farm in Broadalbin is making a difference, one go kart race at a time. This year, the farm raised thousands of dollars for local charity, Operation at Ease, at their annual Sunflower 50 race.

What started with two kids making the best of quarantine, spending hours racing in the corn field, soon turned into the annual racing event. Robert Perry, co-owner of Hightower Farm LLC, said it all started when his son and his best friend wanted to start up their own track to race each other.

“We're big race, people” Perry commented. “We started this whole backyard outlaw go kart club through the whole covid years.”

Perry's son's best friend, John Dumond, said it's not only become a tradition, but also their favorite pastime.
