FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — A quiet backyard sanctuary built for 17-year-old Grace Glaros is now at risk of being torn apart as part of American Electric Power’s North Columbus Transmission Rebuild Project.

Grace, who lives with spina bifida, uses a wheelchair. Her parents designed their Worthington Hills backyard with her in mind from accessible garden beds to paths where she could move freely. They even built a small arts and crafts shed so Grace could spend more time outdoors.

“Our daughter is a wheelchair user, so we built different paths, we built the garden bed so she could roll out into it,” her mother, Lauren Glaros, said. “A couple of years ago, we added a sort of she-shed art and craft area for her just to be outside.”
