PENDER, Neb. (KCAU) — Pender Community Hospital has recently partnered with Nebraska Perinatal Quality Improvement on a new life-saving maternal safety initiative.

"Nebraska perinatal quality improvement collaborative is an organization that has been started in the state to help improve maternal mortality numbers in the United States," said Bethany Sedivy, the Pender Community Hospital OB Coordinator. "Currently, Nebraska is ranked number 17th in the United States, and that's a huge deal. We want to take care of our moms and babies."

The Postpartum Alert Initiative provides new mothers with pamphlets and various reading materials to help identify potential warning signs during the six weeks following delivery.
