A 59-year-old man from Geraldton has been charged by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in relation to child abuse allegations in the Philippines.

WA Police referred the man to the AFP after they seized a number of devices from the man's home in relation to a separate search in March.

It is alleged AFP investigators found child abuse material on the devices, including images depicting the man sexually abusing children.

Police will allege the man communicated with the alleged victims and others through social media in order to meet minors in the Philippines, engage in sexual activity and solicit child abuse material.
