OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Two people were injured Thursday when a loaded trailer detached from a truck and crossed the centerline, hitting an oncoming pickup truck.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on M-231 in Robinson Township. Deputies say a northbound pickup truck was hauling a utility trailer loaded with items when the trailer detached and traveled into oncoming traffic.

A southbound pickup truck hit the trailer, causing the truck to block the road. The trailer went over a guardrail into a ravine.

A third southbound vehicle then hit the pickup truck.

The driver hauling the trailer, a 53-year-old Hudsonville man, was not injured. The 47-year-old Nunica man driving the southbound truck was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
