NEWARK, Ohio — A swatting call led to several schools in Newark being placed on lockdown Friday morning, according to police.
The Newark Division of Police said a threat was made toward Wilson Middle School on West Church Street.
While details of the threat were not provided, a spokesperson for Newark City Schools said there was no active situation at the school. They added that the threat was believed not to be credible.
According to the spokesperson, the school was in "teach-in-place," meaning students are kept in their classrooms. The school was not allowing anyone in or out of the building at the time.
