On an afternoon in which Cam Ward threw his NFL first touchdown pass and — generally speaking — made strides from his NFL debut, the Titans’ rookie quarterback unfortunately suffered a back-breaking turnover that changed the contest.

It was still anybody’s game early in the fourth quarter, after Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford connected with Davis Allen on a short touchdown pass that put the visitors ahead 20-16.

But on second-and-8 from the Titans’ 29-yard-line, Ward dropped back in the pocket and held the ball while looking for an open receiver.
