LINCOLN COUNTY, S.D. (KTIV) - A single-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 11, left one person dead.

South Dakota’s Department of Public Safety says the crash happened in Lincoln, South Dakota, one mile southeast of Fairview on 288th Street near 486th Avenue.

A 62-year-old man from Rock Valley, Iowa, was driving a 1994 Peterbilt Conventional Semi on 288th Street when authorities say the vehicle left the right side of the road, tipped and rolled down a steep embankment.

South Dakota authorities released the preliminary crash report on Friday, Sept. 12, and on Monday, Sept. 15, they released the driver’s name, Warren Dale Van Otterloo.

According to authorities, Van Otterloo was reportedly not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries.
