BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Hundreds of vehicles were burned in a junkyard fire in Blountsville on Sept. 14.

Blountsville Fire and Rescue responded to the fire just before 6:30 p.m. on Hackney Road.

Around 150-200 vehicles were destroyed and due to the location of the fire, water was limited with no nearby fire hydrants.

Several other agencies were requested for tanker support. An estimated 50,000 gallons of water was used during the fire.

Crews were able to protect nearby homes and keep the fire contained to the junkyard. The Blount County Commission District 2 office and the Alabama Forestry Commission were requested to respond with heavy equipment like.
