TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — With the release of a new two-part documentary on Netflix, interest has been renewed in the hard-living actor Charlie Sheen. Little attention, however, has been given to his small yet vital connection to Alabama.

Sheen, who is the subject of the new "aka Charlie Sheen" documentary released on Netflix, was notably among the highest-paid actors on television with his sitcom "Two and a Half Men," until a very public breakdown in January 2011 caused Sheen to firebomb the acting career he had spent decades building.
