WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - An 80-year-old woman charged in a Labor Day weekend crash that killed a Wichita mother and daughter appeared in court for the first time Monday.

Wichita police said speed and alcohol were factors in the Aug. 30 crash at Central and Webb. Investigators said Clowie McLaughlin was driving a black pickup when she collided with two vehicles, including one driven by 25-year-old A’Niah Bell. Her mother, 42-year-old LaShea Bell, was a passenger. Both died from their injuries.

Monday’s hearing lasted about a minute. McLaughlin, wearing a neck brace, was formally read her charges as family and supporters of the Bells watched from outside the courtroom.
