PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A 16-year-old boy was arrested on preliminary weapons offenses after allegedly fleeing police.

Peoria Police were conducting an investigation around 4:50 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of West Brotherson Avenue.

They approached two juveniles during that investigation, with one of them fleeing on foot.

He was apprehended after a brief pursuit. During a search of his flight path, officers reportedly recovered a loaded 9mm Glock handgun.

The boy was arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, no FOID and resisting.

He was taken into custody and later released to his mother.
