HOLTON – Sophomore Kaden Hartman and senior Braden Short led the Abilene Cowboy varsity cross country team as they won the Holton Invitational Thursday in Holton.
Hartman ran third in the 5K race with a time of 18:51.49, Short was fourth at 19:20.12.
Guy Phillips of Jefferson West crossed first with a winning time of 18:20.97. Ethan Tolbert of Perry-Lecompton was second at 18:31.94.
Abilene’s Kamdyn Affolter ran 10th at 19:59.44 with Noah Wuthnow 11th at 20:09.62. Other Cowboy team members were Jaydon Potts 15th (20:21.31), Emil Pickerign 19th(21:27.09) and Lukas Rivera 50th (24:02.82).
Abilene totaled 40 team points with Holton at 56. Others were Jefferson West 112, Jackson Heights 113, McLouth 125, Hiawatha 128, Perry-Lecompton 133 and Oskaloosa 198.
