Scottsburg firefighters battling apartment fire across the street from fire station

SCOTTSBURG, Ind. (WAVE) - Firefighters in Scottsburg are on the scene of a structure fire and are advising the public to avoid the area while they work to control the blaze.

Per a Facebook post, Scottsburg Fire and Rescue are working on a structure fire in the 100 block of West Cherry Street. According to Google Maps, the fire is at an apartment building across the street from a Scottsburg fire station.

SFR said multiple other departments are assisting on the scene and estimate it will be an active scene for several hours.
