Hollywood star Robert Redford has died, aged 89

Hollywood icon Robert Redford has died at home in Utah, aged 89. Robert Redford was an American actor, director, producer, and environmental activist. He was born on 18 August 1936 in Santa Monica, California. Redford became one of the most prominent film stars of the 1960s and 1970s, known for his roles in classics such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), The Sting (1973), and All the President’s Men (1976).

A statement from his publicist Cindi Berger, chairman and chief executive of talent agency Rogers and Cowan PMK, said: “Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah–the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved.

“He will be missed greatly. The family requests privacy.”
