WATERBURY, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – The Southern State Correctional Facility superintendent placed on administrative leave back in July has been returned to her position.
Superintendent Michaela Merrill was previously put on leave while investigators looked into an allegation of misconduct. Those investigators, lead by the Department of Human Resources have since concluded, deemed the allegation "unfounded".
After the allegation was referred to DHR for review, they initiated the SSCF investigation on July 17. SSCF Assistant Superintendent Dave Bovat served as the acting superintendent while Merrill was on leave.
