LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - JCPS’ school board has an outline for how they want to fix a nearly $200 million budget deficit.

The district has a projected budget shortfall for the 2026 Fiscal year after using up COVID funding. That means budget cuts are coming for next school year.

The board says it will maintain salaries for employees, and that there will more reductions affecting the central office in order to maintain students’ experience at school.

JCPS says other money-saving strategies include selective hiring pauses and spending cuts on non-essential items and services.
