OMAHA, Neb. —
A long-term Omaha road project has started at 72nd and L Streets.
Right now, the eastbound L Street exit and entrance ramps to 72nd St are closed.
These ramps are scheduled to reopen by the end of Winter 2025, but this is just the first step of the project.
72nd & L is being changed to an "at-grade" style, that means multiple roads crossing at the same height.
Project Details
The bridge over 72nd St will be removed
72nd St will be widened
The intersection will remain signalized
Turn lane revisions: Dual left turn lanes, and a single right turn lane
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is leading the road project; they say the changes will accommodate the growing traffic volume at 72nd & L St.
NDOT anticipates the project in its entirety will be complete
