TUSCALOOSA, Ala. —

Tuscaloosa City Schools have announced an urgent need to hire 21 school bus drivers for the current school year, with hiring events scheduled to address this need.

The district is hosting two "apply on the spot" hiring events scheduled for Sept. 24 and Oct. 1 at the district's transportation department, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The starting hourly pay is almost $24, and the district cites state retirement and affordable health insurance as benefits.

Applicants must have a clean driving record and no bus driving experience is necessary.
