KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Lawrence Police Department says their second park cleanup went without issues as they helped dozens of people move out of Sandra J. Shae and Burcham Parks, Tuesday and Wednesday.
In a post shared to the department's Facebook page, officers say they helped move out several homeless individuals from the parks as the city intends to bulldoze the areas in what a department spokesperson called a "dedicated and strategic effort in this arena."
The cleanup is a part of continued efforts by the City of Lawrence to clean up a number of encampments throughout the city.
Lawrence police said officers wanted to make sure those living in the encampment were out and uninjured by any bulldozers or other machinery.
