A man was stabbed on light rail during a fight with another person early Saturday morning, Tempe police said.
Officers responded to the Tempe Transit Center just after midnight Sept. 20 after receiving a report that a man had been stabbed on the light rail, according to a release.
“Investigation revealed that the man who was stabbed had been in a physical fight with another man and had hit that man with a metal water bottle in the head. That man, fearing for his life, stabbed the victim,” the Tempe Police Department release stated.
The stab victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries and is expected to survive, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made. No suspect is outstanding, police said.
