Lincoln, Neb. — Michigan players said during the week they were looking to make a statement in their Big Ten opener at Nebraska. They wanted to be physical and tough, flex their muscles in the trenches and come away with a win.

The No. 21 Wolverines (3-1) relied on their run game, which accounted for three touchdowns, three field goals from Dominic Zvada and a strong second-half performance from the defense to beat Nebraska 30-27 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The Cornhuskers (3-1) have lost 27 straight games against ranked opponents, a streak that dates to 2016.
