Video above: Bipartisan group of senators condemn Charlie Kirk killing
(NEXSTAR) — Both chambers of Congress have approved resolutions to honor conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, just days before many of those lawmakers attended his public memorial service in Arizona.
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Sept. 10. A 22-year-old Utah resident is now facing charges in his death.
In the Senate, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) introduced a resolution to make October 14, 2025 — which would have been Kirk's 32nd birthday — a National Day of Remembrance for Kirk. Scott called Kirk's death "a devastating loss."
