FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A young boy has died after being struck by a vehicle Sunday on Golden State Boulevard in southwest Fresno, police said.
The collision happened where Golden State Boulevard crosses over State Route 99.
Investigators said the 10-year old boy was crossing the roadway when he was hit by a southbound vehicle.
He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries but later died, according to Fresno police.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The California Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation. Authorities said the area will remain closed for several hours.
