EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The community is coming together to support an Evansville Police Department officer who was shot in the line of duty.
Officer Sam Taylor was severely injured after an 18-year-old suspect shot him twice, according to police.

Officer Taylor and his family now face an unexpected emotional and financial burden as he begins his long road to recovery.
The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #73 in Evansville is collecting donations on the family's behalf to help cover the cost of medical expenses, family support needs, and any other unforeseen expenses.
