NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Metro Councilwoman is facing backlash from her constituents after she made remarks on a rezoning proposal that left neighborhood groups questioning whether they’re being heard.
Metro Councilwoman Ginny Welsch recently took to the podcast, "City Cast Nashville," to discuss her previous ordinance that would have rezoned the Woodbine, Radnor and Glencliff neighborhoods. The ordinance for an urban design overlay and high-density housing.
In the podcast, Welsch said she thought her proposal would've helped solve Nashville's housing problem and allow younger families to build their personal wealth through housing. Welsch also added that the history behind single family housing was built on racism, and her district has the chance to make a change for the better.
