OMAHA, Neb. —

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating an in-custody death Monday.

Deputies were called to an apartment complex near 201st and P streets in Elkhorn around 6:30 p.m. for a suicidal party. The Sheriff's Office said deputies tried to de-escalate the man. He suffered injuries at the scene and died at the hospital.

Investigators say three deputies were at the scene at the time, though no force was used. The deputies have been placed on administrative leave as is required by policy.
