The owner of a Cane Corso that mauled a woman coming to pick up a Facebook Marketplace buy was slapped with a massive fine last week.

Rebecca Louise Higgs pleaded guilty in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday after her dog Kane attacked a woman visiting her Stake Hill property.

A Shire of Murray prosecutor said Kane’s victim needed ongoing therapy to regain use of her hand after the attack.

They told the court the woman visited the Stake Hill property on April 28 to pick up an item purchased via Facebook Marketplace.

She drove through an open gate and Kane came running towards her when she got out of her car.

Kane was barking, growling and showing his teeth before he latched onto her forearm.
